Kathie Lee Gifford co-hosted her final episode of the “Today Show” on Monday, April 8, 2019. She didn’t go without a bang. On the final episode, Kathie Lee and co-host Hoda Kotb played a trivia game about their 11 years on the show. The pair learned that they have been served approximately 5,300 glasses of wine during that time.
“That’s not a lot over 11 years,” Kathie Lee said, heroically. Her original guess was 10,000.
Why drink wine on a morning show? Simply put, to “keep the mood festive and to keep it light and happy and uplifting,” Kathie Lee told Today.com. She added that the pair are (obviously) not drinking all that wine. “If we drank anywhere near what people think we drink, we couldn’t function at such an extraordinarily high professional level,” she said.
Nevertheless, today, we raise our glasses to Kathie Lee and Hoda.
