We may have our reservations about pumpkin beer, but when it comes to pumpkin pie, it’s no holds bar. When that pumpkin pie has whiskey involved, well, we’re finished.
Thanks to the BBQ Pit Boys, a pie-induced whiskey nap is on the horizon. Why? Because the only thing better than cinnamon in pumpkin pie is cinnamon whiskey.
The Boys’ recipe calls for Fireball, because, let’s be honest, Fireball is the only cinnamon whiskey you need. We’re not the only ones who are excited about this drunken dessert — the recipe has been replicated by blogs such as Laura Is Cooking, Copy Me That, Turquoise Toffee, and of course, it’s all over Pinterest.
The BBQ Pit Boys describe the pie as “the perfect dessert for that holiday barbecue you have going on at your Pit.” We don’t have a pit, but we have a dream, and that dream includes whiskey pie.
Where does the whiskey come into play? You add it during the pie filling stage. After you crack our eggs, whisk and combine your sugar, salt, pumpkin, spices, and condensed milk, you drop a dram (actually, a heavy-handed 6 ounces) into the mix, and voila. Tipsy pumpkin pie. (Note: You will not get drunk from this pie.)
