On Wednesday, Delta Airlines announced it will now serve Blanton’s bourbon, Hugo Spritzes, Palomas, and non-alcoholic cocktails in-flight to Delta One business class customers. The menu additions come alongside Delta’s $1 billion investment in its fleet, revamping its highest tier seating option for long-haul and international flights.
Delta will first roll out the refurbished menu to fliers on transoceanic trips departing from Los Angeles International Airport. The airline plans on expanding the new Delta One program to its full global network by early next year.
Delta is the first airline to partner with Blanton’s, a premium bourbon brand best known for its single-barrel expressions. Popular with enthusiasts, this play might help Delta win over the bourbon-obsessed “tater” crowd.
“Delta One is proud to serve this exceptional single-barrel bourbon, whose limited production and global demand have made it a prized favorite among both collectors and connoisseurs,” the airline stated in a press release announcing the partnership.
Delta also partnered with master sommelier Andrea Robinson to revamp its in-flight Delta One wine menu, which it introduced earlier this month, with a focus on Napa producers like Silver Oak, Freemark Abbey, Trefethen, and St. Supéry. Robinson and the airline handpicked select bottles from international wineries to feature in its program as well, including a Petit Chablis from Jean-Marc Brocard and a Sancerre from Lauren Bourret.
The airline overhauled its food program as well to now feature both decadent and seasonal dishes. On the new menu are a wagyu beef burger, roasted sea bass dressed in tomato tarragon sauce, and a seasonally rotating risotto.
