Any $1 menu item grabs people’s attention. Whether it’s a dollar pizza slice or a dollar beer, the novelty is always exciting.

Now Applebee’s is offering $1 margaritas for the entire month of October. Cleverly named “Dollaritas” are served on the rocks, but it’s unclear what kind of tequila Applebee’s is using. José Cuervo? Don Julio? It’s probably well tequila, but who cares? For $3 or $4, depending on your tolerance, you’ll be able to get a nice buzz going at your favorite neighborhood chain.

This October is Applebee’s Neighborhood Appreciation month, and boasts the Dollarita as a “thanks you can drink.”

Honestly I can’t think of a better way to build customer loyalty than offering absurdly cheap, pretty decent margaritas. “Our $1 margaritas in October give us a chance to show our guests a little love, giving them a totally unbeatable offer as a gesture of our sincere appreciation for their patronage,” Patrick Kirk, vice president of beverage innovation at Applebee’s, says.

Now you can wash down the two entrées and an appetizer for $20 special with one or two “Dollaritas.” And there’s no happy hour scam going on here either. Dollaritas are available open to close for the entire month.

Applebee’s is known more for its food, such as its wide variety of savory appetizers and standard burgers, but the restaurant chain is also a bar. Kirk explains a refocus on bar service in Applebee’s press release: “We focus on our food a lot, but ‘bar’ is in our name, and it is an integral part of what makes Applebee’s a great neighborhood destination.” It’s good business sense, and hopefully we’ll continue to see more drink specials like this at Applebee’s in future.
