Mardi Gras will take place on Tuesday, March 5, but Applebee’s is starting the party early. The neighborhood grill and bar is offering Dollar Hurricanes for the entire month of February through March 5.
For those not familiar with the (in)famous New Orleans staple, the Hurricane is a sweet, boozy fusion of rum, fruit juice, and syrup or grenadine. Applebees’ take on the cocktail combines rum with a fruity mix of passion fruit, orange, black cherry, and lime, all served in a 10-ounce glass.
“The Hurricane cocktail is a classic rum drink with close ties to New Orleans and Mardi Gras,” Patrick Kirk, vice president of beverage innovation at Applebee’s, said in an email press release. “A Dollar Hurricane is a great reason to celebrate the season and from now until March 5, Applebee’s is going to ‘party like it’s Mardi.’”
The Dollar Hurricane comes with a Mardis Gras mask stirrer or decorative beads so drinkers around the country can feel like they, too, are part of this year’s French Quarter festivities.
As always, price, participation, and availability of Applebee’s $1 Neighborhood Drink of the Month may vary by location, so before you don that mask and boa, be sure to check in with your local restaurant.
