In 1976, shockwaves reverberated through the worldwide wine community: For the first time, an American wine bested every French offering in a major competition. Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon triumphed over prestigious Bordeaux wines at the Judgement of Paris blind tasting. The winery, founded in 1970, firmly established Napa Valley as a serious competitor to Old World wine regions.
