America might run on Dunkin’ but, around the world, it’s a different story. According to Statista data, Starbucks currently operates around 30,000 stores worldwide, making it the world’s biggest coffee house chain. The brand’s stock market value recently surged to an all-time high, helping it become the second-most valuable food brand in the world.
Founded in Seattle, Wash., in 1971, Starbucks opened its first location outside North America in Tokyo in 1996. Just over two decades later, the brand now operates on six continents and in 78 countries and territories.
Outside of North America and China, Europe is one of its largest markets. In total, there are more than 2,700 Starbucks stores on the continent. For a more detailed look, here’s a map of the number of Starbucks in each European country.
