Over the past few years, Session beers have become a larger and larger category of beer consumed, especially in the summer and fall, when you want to drink a larger number of beers without fear that you’ll pass out in the grass. And with the rise in popularity of this category, more brewers have entered the fray, with Session IPAs dominating the category.
With so many Session IPAs now on the market, we wanted to know which ones are American drinkers’ favorites. To answer this question we scraped data from Rate Beer and ranked the beers accordingly. In order to qualify, the beer had to have at least ten ratings on the platform and an ABV of 5% or less.
Below are the top thirty Session IPAs in America. The top ten almost entirely reside on the East Coast, which makes some sense, since the high-alcohol Imperial IPAs that helped make craft beer famous really took off out West, meaning it’s probably taken those West Coast brewers a bit longer to come around to this new lower alcohol trend.
