How To Make Bacon Shot Glasses

We’ve all been there before, standing at the bar, shot glass in hand, ready to throw the spirit down our gullet, when we’ve thought to ourselves “man this would really be so much better if the shot glass I’m holding was made out of bacon and dipped in chocolate.” Well wish no more, because thanks to food blog Through The Eyes Of My Belly, that dream is now a reality.

While the shot glasses are a little time intensive to make, they actually seem pretty simple – we’re shocked no one has thought of this before. All you need to do is create your molds, wrap bacon around them, and then bake. Once your bacon shot glasses are out of the oven, you simply coat the insides with chocolate. The chocolate, in addition to being delicious, serves a function here. Once you let it cool down in the fridge it will seal any holes, which will allow the bacon shot glass to actually hold your preferred spirit. After that, the sky’s the limit as to what you choose to fill your glasses with.

In terms of the appropriate liquid filling, bourbon would be our first choice, playing well with both the sweet chocolate and the smoky, salty bacon, but the glasses would also work well with a smoky Islay scotch, a rich rum or even a smooth añejo tequila. We’d just avoid filling these with vodka or gin as those flavor combos probably won’t work out too well.

Got some leftover bacon? Then you should probably learn how to make candied bacon. Now combine the two.
