One Russian man has given a whole new meaning to the phrase “getting tanked.” Local Russian news outlet Hibinform reports that a man stole an armored tank from a motorsports facility, drove it through the forest, and rammed it into a convenience store in Apatity, Russia. Apatity is a small town in northern Russia near the Arctic Circle.
The man reportedly had trouble turning the tank around while rolling down a narrow street, and crashed into the storefront, running over a parked car in the process. The perpetrator made his way out of the tank, examined the damage for a fleeting moment, and then crawled into the store through a broken window.
The man left with a stolen bottle of wine, but was later arrested by police. Witnesses believed the man was intoxicated at the time, which seems apparent. It’s still unclear how the man was able to steal the tank, and how he had the operational knowledge to drive the vehicle. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
