About Jenny Dawn Cellars

Jenny Dawn Cellars is an urban boutique winery and tasting room located in downtown Wichita, Kansas. Our founder and CEO, Jennifer McDonald, is the first African-American commercial winemaker in the State of Kansas. Jennifer crafts premium, aromatic, fruit-forward wines from grapes, fruit, and juice sourced from the finest growers in California and Kansas. Jenny Dawn Cellars is putting Kansas back on the wine-producing map; showing the national audience that Kansas wine can hold its own against wine produced in premier growing regions. Jenny Dawn Cellars wines are exceptional examples of California and Kansas wine, showcased side-by-side. Jennifer also runs an urban orchard and vineyard in a local neighborhood (offsite from the winery). One of her missions is to help diversify the wine industry by encouraging young people of color to consider a career in wine and/or agriculture.

Our Story

Founded in 2016 by Jennifer McDonald, Jenny Dawn Cellars has grown from the dream of an at-home winemaker into the first urban winery in Wichita, Kansas.
In 2017, Jennifer established a working partnership with a wine facilitator in Napa, California to start building her wine brand.
In 2019, Jennifer opened Jenny Dawn Cellars in the heart of downtown Wichita at the historic Union Station.
As of June, 2020, there are 11 Jenny Dawn Cellars wines available for purchase in the winery and online, with the ability to ship to 38 states. We currently have distributors in Kansas and Nebraska.

Jenny Dawn Cellars at Union Station is a production facility, tasting room, and event venue. The winery offers small bites, wine tastings, venue rentals, and wine locker memberships. Jennifer also teaches a monthly Wineucation class that covers the basics of wine tasting, wine pairings, wine history, and the opportunity to taste wines from around the globe.

We’ve bottled the art of timing.

From the vine to the bottle - we craft our wine from grapes, fruit, and juice sourced from the finest growers in the nation. From the bottle to the glass - that’s where you come in. When you open a bottle of Jenny Dawn Cellars wine, you open your moment, your reprieve from the business of busy-ness, and your time to bloom.

Jenny Dawn Cellars is inspired by the wildflowers on the Kansas countryside, inviting you to open up, enjoy the breeze, and show your colors to the world. Just like a flower, when Jenny Dawn Cellars wine is shared with someone special, it needs no further explanation – it’s a feeling that is simply understood.

Jenny Dawn Cellars – Let your moment begin.
