The Story Behind The Pisco Paloma

I recently met with a friend in Manhattan who is deeply invested in the Peruvian pisco revolution. It is so cool to find such a great spirit that has been around for so long yet is only just being discovered by a new generation of drinkers.

For this drink, I combined a Peruvian pisco with the flavors traditionally found in a Paloma, the classic Mexican tequila drink. It worked deliciously. The notes of grapefruit are joined by subtle lime, and the agave syrup brings a lovely balance to earthy pisco.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces pisco
  • ¾ ounce triple sec
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 1 ounce grapefruit juice
  • 1 ounce agave syrup

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Shake hard to chill and combine.
  3. Fine-strain into a chilled rocks glass.
  4. Garnish and enjoy!
